Marriage Challenges

If you ever talk to a married couple, one thing you are bound to hear is that marriage is hard, really hard. Once that honeymoon period ends and the two of you are back to real life, it takes a lot of time and effort to make the marriage work. There are plenty of problems that will inevitably come up but, thankfully, most of them can be solved quite easily. Here are 14 marriage problems that you just may face after tying the knot.

Married Outside Your Class

Two different ideology may likely be difficult to merge. Marriage between a poor background spouse and a rich background spouse tends to be open to wounds. The training each got possess or becloud the marriage.

No matter how little or how much you make, at some point, money will come up as an issue during your marriage. It can be hard to talk about money problems objectively, and you may notice that the two of you become defensive and testy in no time. Sadly, money issues are often tied to emotional ones.

He’s messy, you’re not

When he comes home, his shoes are off at the door and his socks are tossed under the family room table. He opens a bag of chips and leaves them half-way closed on the kitchen table. Though this problem is cliche, believe it or not, cleanliness can easily become a serious issue during a marriage.

You’re the household maid

When those days come that the house needs to be thoroughly cleaned, you find that your husband is either M.I.A or completely uninterested in the task at hand. Not only does he make some of the mess, he never has much interest in cleaning it up. This means that you’re left with the brunt of the work. Having to clean an entire house on your own can be tiring, annoying, and frustrating.

The marriage now includes his mom

Before getting married, it can be hard to determine whether or not his mom will be an ideal mother-in-law or not. While some will readily leave you to your marriage, some moms will want to stick their noses in everything. The signs are usually already there if you’re marrying a mama’s boy, but sometimes there are women who just want to be involved in everything, including your marriage.

He can’t make it to kid functions

When your child is receiving his certificate for having good grades or perfect attendance, you can’t always count on your husband being able to attend. Sometimes he’s too busy at work, and other times he seems to make excuses because this small of a function just may not be worth his time. Work it into his mind that these small celebrations only happen once, and it’s best for everyone that he is able to witness them.

Unknown expectations

A relationship, especially a marriage, is made that much harder when you, or both of you, set unknown expectations of each other. If you expect him to help with dinner every Friday, you have to tell him that, instead of assuming that he knows what you want. You aren’t a mind reader and neither is he. So, if you have expectations, be sure that they are out in the open.

To have more kids or not

You two already have two children and, for your husband, his family is complete. And while you may have felt the same way as he did at some point, you’re now questioning whether or not you need just one more to really complete your family. Of course, this is bound to lead to some conflict, especially if you two are on the opposing side of things. In most cases, you’ll want just one more baby while he thinks what you have is good enough.

Not enough alone time

Once kids are thrown into the mix, a lot of couples may find that they are not spending enough alone time together. With so much emphasis put on having family time together and being a single unit, sometimes the time that needs to be spent as husband and wife can become a thing of the past. Remember, your time with your man is crucial, if not more important, now that you’re married.

Too much time spent together

On the other hand, there are some couples who spend too much time together. Even in a marriage, it’s important that the two of you are able to keep hold of your sense of self. Spending too much time together can cause you to feel trapped or almost like you have no room to breathe. While you love your husband, having time apart is ideal.

Sexual incompatibility

As crazy as it sounds, there can come a point in your marriage when the two of you become sexually incompatible. While some couples go into a marriage knowing that they aren’t 100% compatible in the bedroom, others find that the issue manifests itself after some time. Thankfully, sexual incompatibility can often be solved by a simple talk with the two of you explaining what you like and dislike between the sheets, as well as any issues that you’re having.

Sex goes out the window

You have become live-in roommates. While you eat together, watch TV together, and go out, you never have sex. You’ve probably heard tons of comments related to how sex seems to become a thing of the past once a couple gets married. When sex goes out the window, the physical relationship between the two of you starts to wither away as well. Figure out what’s causing the road blockage and get back to it! Marriage doesn’t have to mean the end of bedroom fun.

He snores way too loudly

From the outside, this problem may come across as childish, but think about it. Every night you climb into bed, hoping for a restful night’s sleep, and instead you’re left listening to your husband snore loudly for hours on end, which in return keeps you from sleeping peacefully. The real conflict comes when your husband denies that he snores and wants to do nothing about fixing the problem.

You feel like a single mom

Your husband is always busy at work, and he has one of those jobs where he can’t just leave at the drop of a dime. This means that when anything goes wrong with one of your children, you are left to do whatever is necessary. From picking up your son from school when he is sick to cooking dinner and taking them to after-school activities, everything is on your shoulders. In the end you feel like a single mom, even though you aren’t.
